I'm sure you're going to love them too if you visit the city and one Etsy shop, called Ribonita.
For someone who needs, works with or just fancies stationary, Carla's shop is a really treat: prints, bookmarks, paper dolls, tags, etc, anything you would have dreamt about. All her creations are lovely, she helps you to enter in a world populated by cute creatures and beautiful princesses, charming delightful things that could only make happy your little ones.
I'm especially in love with her bookmarks made from laminated paper and ...love(and talent, and imagination and creativity and...again love!). She is a wonderful artist and a great seller, everything is wrapped and shipped with great care, you will receive a perfect gift designed to bring you joy.
She also writes a lovely blog where you could get up dates about her work and for more images you should check her flikr portfolio. I found her Pinterest board gorgeous, so delicate and genuine, loved it to bits !

CHERRY TREE IN WINTER

This is Silvo and he crossed Europe to come and live into my house. He left his little brothers before Christmas and spent few long winter days alone from custom to custom, without somebody to cheer him up; when the Christmas and New Year's Eve rush finished I found him out waiting for me in a small box smelling of cinnamon. He's happy now, watching television, he can't speak very fast English, but he laughs at "Friends" or "Two and a half men" and smiles all the time.
He was sent by Vesna and Mojca from Ljubljana (Slovenia) who are the artists behind Cherry Time . Here you could find unique cake toppers, crocheted amigurumi toys, handmade jewelry, crocheted hangers, felted pin cushions, lovely zipper purses and much more. They are talented, bursting with imagination and good taste, their work is absolutely lovely.

Vesna owns a second shop My Cherry Tree, she offers gorgeous vintage items and re-purposed handmade lovelies and vintage tins, teddy bears, lace, porcelain, bedding or silver spoons.

"The Danube Delta falls within east European steppe ecosystem, with Mediterranean influences. As a young region in full process of consolidation, the Danube Delta represents a very favourable place for the development of highly diverse flora and fauna, unique in Europe, with numerous rare species. It hosts 23 natural ecosystems, but due to the extent of wetlands the aquatic environment is prevalent. Between the aquatic and terrestrial environments, is interposed a swampy, easily flooded strip of original flora and fauna, with means of adaptation for water or land, depending on the season or the hydrological regime. At the contact between freshwater and sea water, some special physical, chemical and biological processes take place, which determined biologists to consider this area as a very different ecosystem called beforedelta. Musura Gulf, north of Sulina, and Saint George Gulf are considered the most representative for this type of ecosystem.
Situated on major migratory routes, and providing adequate conditions for nesting and hatching, the Danube Delta is a magnet for birds from six major eco-regions of the world, including the Mongolian, Arctic and Siberian. There are over 320 species of birds found in the delta during summer, of which 166 are hatching species and 159 are migratory. Over one million individuals (swans, wild ducks, bald coots, etc.) winter here".

PROJECT 52/1

I've decided to join the 52 project being interested to built up a kind of testimony of the year; it could be helpful thinking sometimes the days are skimming as ghosts with no evidence in anyone's memory.

First photo for the very first week of January has been taken in Alameda Gardens, not very inviting at this time of the year, but still a lovely place where you could breathe fresh air and enjoy your walk in peace and tranquility.

In background, one of the tennis fields (as a reminder that the first Grand Slam of the year will soon start in Australia, not that I need a reminder being an old tennis lover for a long, long time....).

I really liked the contrast between those different overtones of red and green, not a very common wintry image but, hey, this is Gibraltar! 18 degrees Celsius, no snow...bless!

Pol Ledent is a self-taught painter based in Belgium. He started with watercolour in 1989, discovering soon oil painting better suited to his style of work.

Yesterday's walk to Alameda Gardens has cheered me up. Leaving in Gibraltar has a lot of advantages and few disadvantages, between them: winter is not very different from a mild autumn, almost everything is stuck on green, it seems nothing dies, and I can't find the common reddish, brown and yellow leaves I grew up with. Still I've managed to take some lovely pictures; here there is a combination of some of them:

The artist of this week is the photographer Ron Jones. He is a member of Allied Artists of West Virginia and has had work exhibited in local galleries. He has won numerous online photography awards and has had images as covers of several statewide magazines. He also has been featured in the international magazines Photoshop Creative, Digital Photo and PCPhoto.
He started to use photography as a way to picture the surrounding world as he sees it more than 30 years ago. Discovering the digital technology 10 years ago he started to combine various effects and the result it was amazing.

It has been a very busy week, and I'm not very sure if I can choose only one moment that I want to share. I think it's easier just to list few of my week's smiles:
- the fine, lovely weather which makes people friendlier and happier here; 25 degrees Celsius for November is a true blessing,
- every day's walk with my partner, his understanding and humour,
- a couple hours trip around the Rock , not forgetting to take my camera for some landscape shots,

- a buzzing of ideas and tips from my friend Mariam, from over the ocean,
- the joy being part of Etsy community,

COLOURS BETWEEN SEAS - MY ETSY SHOP

I've recently opened my Etsy shop, called Colours Between Seas, name chosen only because I was lucky enough to live close to the Black Sea for many years, then to cross Europe only to settle on the Mediterranean shore, in Gibraltar. I display photographs taken in Romania, UK, Spain and Gibraltar and also soon from North Africa. They are in limited edition, professionally printed on high quality photographic paper and borne from my love for sea, colour, life and art.

My first customer was Mariam, a very talented artist, based in New York. She's just opened a new shop on Imagekind, and her work is frequently featured on different blogs and art sites. More information about her work and where to purchase her art can be find on her lovely blog.

FACES I KNOW, PEOPLE I LIKE

Everybody knows it is not so easy to make good portraits - you need special equipment, lights a good camera a nice background a good subject and of course the skill, or just luck. Even I'm not prepared yet and not very attracted to develop a portrait photographic career still I can enjoy to catch some beautiful "faces" opening a little window in their inner life. I took some shots few days ago at one of the events which took place on the Rock, organized by Clean Up the World Association. I couldn't help myself being surrounded by beautiful and interesting people not to compile a very small gallery. Here they are:-

Cathy, a very good looking young lady I wish one day to take a real set of pictures of, as I consider this image doesn't make justice for her beauty, but still I like it for the feelings involved in it.

"Old good" Melvyn who hates the camera, but camera loves him being such a "character" (and an enchanting person - he will kill me for this...).

My friend Aimee I'm very fond of and who's a wonderful person and a lovely "subject".
Kerrie who could be anytime a perfect "subject" for any photographer - for me as well if I ever have my own studio.

REMARKABLE ARTISTS - MORTEN GJUL

Morten is one of my favourite artists. I saw his work for the first time on RedBubble where he has a beautiful gallery. It has been difficult to decide which of his paintings I like most, as all are surprising and warm, exhibiting a huge sensitivity and understanding of the surrounding world. Only because winter is not very far I've chosen to display above his "Winter ballad" - source here.

Morten lives in Norway and he has been working as a teacher since he graduated the Nord - Trondelag University College. He grew as a painter in the company of other talented artists: Arne Isacsson, Lars Holm, Peder Mauseth and Morten Paulsen.

He has participated in almost 80 exhibitions during the last 10 years where he won lots of prizes. His art speaks wonderfully for itself making us to experiment emotions and ask ourselves questions about the meaning of every little thing we use to acknowledge in our way through life, and reading his statement we end up discovering the world step by step through his eyes, to see everything like he does: in a interference of meanings and colours, of weakness and power, of sublime and terrestrial which in fact expresses the continual fight between dark and light, between death and life.

Morten Gjul is telling us: "I try to portray the tension between the solid and the fragile in rural areas. I strive to convey the gravity and humor in small places. When there are no houses or other traces of human presence in the paintings, it is often the meeting between the sky and the sea that dominates. To paint with watercolor is complicated. Sometimes the technique and unforeseen events on the paper will stand and speak for itself, in a more abstract expression. Bringing experiences from real life into my art is important to me. Not a realistic reproduction of events and persons on the paper, more using the dark and light to express hope when it seems to become all dark. Yesterday Clive took photographs of the annual Harley Davidson meeting in Gibraltar. Considering he had a stroke 2 months ago I think he's recovering very well, slowly but surely. We spent a few hours enjoying ourselves, wandering around, taking pictures, chatting with friends under the Mediterranean sun being blessed by a friendly breeze. This is the result.
